Some More About Me

Hi my name is Cynthia Jimenez (they/them) and I am a recent graduate of McMaster University's Honours Bachelor of Arts in Greek and Roman Studies with a minor in Gender Studies. Now I am graduate student at Western University's Master of Media in Journalism and Communication (MMJC).

As I complete my studies I am working as a freelance journalist and as one of MMJC's Social Media Coordinators.

In the past I have worked as  a college contributor for HerCampus' national site and McMaster Chapter. I have also volunteered as a Content Manager for the McMaster Humanities Society Newsletter, the Navy News.

My work appeared in Xtra Magazine, HerCampus Media and Grain of Salt Mag

Inside and outside of my journalistic work I am passionate about the role of community building and connectivity through storytelling. My career goal is to work in long-form journalism and on topics of queer culture and politics but I am eager to report on a variety of stories and in a variety of mediums.

Outside of my work I am an avid literary fiction reader and a lover of music and concerts. As my work and academics become increasingly digital I am drawn to physical art mediums and love making zines and crocheting. You can often find me rock climbing, eating pickles and onion rings or hanging out with my dog.

If you want to know more about my professional experience you can take a look at that here.
